Μια ημέρα σαν την σημερινή του 1937, μια ελβετική εφημερίδα δημοσίευσε το Mein blaues Klavier (Το μπλε πιάνο μου), το περίφημο ποίημα της Else Lasker-Schüler, στο οποίο αναφέρεται το σκίτσο του σημερινού Doodle που είναι εικονογραφημένο από την καλλιτέχνιδα Cynthia Kittler.
Η Elisabeth Schüler γεννήθηκε στη γερμανική πόλη Elberfeld, στις 11 Φεβρουαρίου του 1869, και ανατράφηκε σε μια εξέχουσα εβραϊκή οικογένεια. Απέκτησε σημαντική μόρφωση μέσα στο σπίτι, από την μητέρα της, η οποία την ενθάρρυνε να πειραματιστεί και να διερευνήσει τα καλλιτεχνικά της ενδιαφέροντα.
Το 1894, η Schüler παντρεύτηκε τον Jonathan Lasker και μετακόμισε στο Βερολίνο, όπου αργότερα δημοσίευσε τα πρώτα της ποιήματα. Εντάχθηκε στους καλλιτεχνικούς κύκλους του Βερολίνου, συναναστρεφόμενη κορυφαίους λογοτέχνες της πόλης.
Όταν ξέσπασε ο Β' Παγκόσμιος Πόλεμος έφυγε για την Ιερουσαλήμ όπου και εγκαταστάθηκε. Συνέχισε να γράφει ποιήματα ·εκεί δημιούργησε το σπουδαίο Mein blaues Klavier.
Τον Ιανουάριο του 1945 υπέστη καρδιακή προσβολή και κηδεύτηκε στους πρόποδες του 'Όρους των Ελαιών.
